Soldiering On Awards 2011 at the Savoy The inaugural BLESMA “Soldiering On” Awards Black Tie Ceremony & Dinner will be held at the prestigious Savoy, London on Sunday 20 March 2011 in the presence of the Royal Patron of BLESMA and wonderful array of celebrity guests and senior military ranks from all three Services
Our two special hosts for the evening are Paul Martin of "Flog It" fame and singer, actress and broadcaster Gloria Hunniford. You will be guided through the evening by Paul’s effervescent charm and expertise and the wonderfully bubbly and vibrant Gloria.
Dress code: Black Tie or Mess Dress Uniform, with Medals, Long Dresses
Champagne Reception.
From 6pm as you arrive at the River entrance to the Savoy Hotel, you will be met by an Honour Guard of the Honourable Artillery Company. Enjoy a refreshing glass of Champagne whilst you get ready for the night ahead. The Awards.
Hosted by Paul Martin of "Flog It" fame and singer, actress and broadcaster Gloria Hunniford, the very special Soldiering On awards will be presented by a host of celebrities who are graciously giving their time to be with us this evening to present the following awards: FUNDRAISING ENDEAVOUR - To recognise one who has inspired us all by fundraising with enthusiasm, commitment and determination to further the work of those who soldier on. SUPPORTIVE FAMILY - To recognise an individual or family that has provided outstanding support to an injured person or persons from current conflicts. WELFARE AWARD - VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - To recognise selfless devotion to helping those who soldier on. AGAINST ALL ODDS - To recognise the individual who sets the example for others to follow in his or her determination to overcome grievous disability.
The Dinner.
A sumptuous three course dinner serenaded by the Band of the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards prepares you for the main event of the evening.
The 'Money Can't Buy' Auction.
An auction of unique items will be presented by the wonderfully professional Tom Keane (Chiswick Auction Rooms). ![]() To round the evening off you will be entertained by the renowned Swinging Blue Jeans who are breaking off their UK Tour for one night to play for us at the Savoy. The band members between them have worked with Sixties giants such as The Merseybeats, The Kinks, PJ Proby, The Foundations and Marty Wilde. Rock & Roll at its very best! Joining the Swinging Blue Jeans will be Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley of the Merseybeat fame.
