Generously donated by Count Franz La Rosée – Breitling UK Ltd, this prize will be drawn on the night of the 16 Mar 10 by Count La Rosée himself. Launching in 1952, the Navitimer gave pilots a genuine wrist instrument. Ingenious and efficient, it is endowed with a circular slide rule capable of performing all the calculations a flight plan requires – in essence a ‘navigation computer’. The Navitimer fast became the official watch of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots association, the largest grouping of pilots in the world. Continuously produced since 1952 and unchanged in either form or spirit, it has achieved cult object status, becoming the world’s oldest chronograph.
