THE BRITISH 10K LONDON RUN
SUNDAY 3 JULY 2005

We have been graciously given 18 entries to the 5th running of The London 10 Kilometre Run by Michael O'Reilly the race organiser. The race ties in with the 60th Anniversary VE/VJ Veterans Awareness Week 3rd - 10th July celebrations. It is also 3 days before the International Olympics Committee elect the host city to stage the 2012 Olympics for which London is a front runner. There are an expected 20,000 runners to this high profile event, WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ONE OF THEM! The route is through the heart of London, passing many of the capital's historic landmarks, on some of its most famous streets. Check out the official website for the race through the following link http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk

For further details including entry to the race contact Frank Garside, BLESMA Headquarters on 020 8590 1124.

A public relations launch was carried out in Trafalgar Square on the 4th February 2005 and was covered by the BBC and other major media organisations. A replica Spitfire was "flown in" especially for the occasion and many of the major ex-service charities were there including of course ourselves represented by Philip "Bob" Monkhouse and Frank Garside. The pictures show "runners" in front of Nelsons Column and Bob holding the 1948 Olympic Torch.

SHOULD ANYONE WISH TO RUN IN THE LONDON MARATHON OR ANY OTHER MARATHON/RACE OR WISHES TO ORGANISE AN EVENT TO RAISE MUCH NEEDED FUNDS FOR BLESMA OR TO SPONSOR ANY OF OUR RUNNERS - PLEASE CONTACT FRANK GARSIDE AT HEADQUARTERS ON 020 8590 1124 FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR TO DISCUSS THEIR IDEA/PROJECT.
