Life After Traumatic Injury Can Be Challenging
Jack was part of a Royal Engineers bomb disposal team when he was injured by a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2010, losing both legs above the knee.
I was in a coma for 30 days, then in intensive care for six months. When I woke up, what had happened didn’t kick in until a week or so later, when I was able to talk to my dad. He’s ex-Army, a man’s man, but when I asked him if I’d lost my legs he started to cry.
The road back to recovery and adapting to the loss of both of his legs has been long and challenging. But with the continued support of Blesma, Jack has rebuilt his life.
Jack has gone on to get married, have a child against the odds, rebuild his career, and has competed at the Invictus Games.
Please donate today so veterans like Jack can continue to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Your donation can help Blesma provide vital mobility assistance, welfare grants and companionship.
