Blesma will provide a programme of Activities where Members and Staff can expect an environment free from harassment, bullying and neglect. This will be achieved by the following standards...
Promote and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health and wellbeing of fellow Blesma Members and Staff at all times by:
- Being mindful that fellow Members may be traumatised, reticent, very nervous, upset or reluctant to tell their story
- Understanding that if any Member is subject to abuse or bullying the perpetrator will be removed from the activity
- Understanding that if any Member behaves in a manner which could jeopardise the safety of other Members they will be removed from the activity
Work in collaboration with colleagues to ensure the delivery of a high quality, safe and interesting programme:
- Follow the instructions of staff
Communicate in an open and effective way to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of Blesma Members by:
- Showing efficiency, trustworthiness and honesty by being genuine, non-judgemental, sensitive to others, sensitive to the fact that fellow Members may have poor mental health and showing empathy
- Following the joining instructions
- Participating in the “welcome meeting”
Respect Members’ right to confidentiality and the limitations by:
- Reassuring Members that you will always seek guidance from the Activities Leader regarding any issues that you are concerned about
- Reassuring fellow Members that information will only be shared on a “need to know” basis but that you have a responsibility to act on any suspicion or evidence of abuse or neglect and to pass on your concerns to the Activities Leader
Apply Social Media guidelines:
- Specific coverage of fellow participants should only be with their permission
- Coverage should be factual, respectful and not take opinion or make judgement

- Blesma will investigate all formal complaints with due diligence and act accordingly
