A team of four adventurers including Blesma Member Nick Beighton completed the Land’s End to John O’Groats journey in a straight line.
The crew used kayaks and bikes, but also hiked across the Cairngorms in Scotland. The team have raised a staggering £22,000 plus!

The Team
Nick Beighton: Nick served as a Captain in the Royal Engineers. During an operational tour of Afghanistan in 2009, Nick was out on foot patrol when he stood on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), causing him to lose both legs above the knee. Nick has come back strong from his injuries to compete in the London 2012 Paralympic Games in the Trunk and Arms Mixed Double Scull where he and his partner Sam Scowen finished 4th. Nick recently competed in the inaugural Invictus Games, winning gold in the indoor rowing competition.
Ian O’Grady: Ian currently serves as a helicopter crewman on Merlin helicopters with the Royal Air Force. Before joining the military, he travelled while working as a professional kayaker, white-water raft guide and climbing and mountaineering instructor. Recently, Ian has been balancing his military career with recovering from a pelvis injury.
Adam Harmer: Currently one of the best qualified kayak coaches, Adam works at Plas y Brenin (The National Mountain Sports Centre in Snowdonia) and is a Senior Lecturer in Outdoor Education at Liverpool John Moores University.
Tori James: Tori became the youngest Britain woman and the first Welsh woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest aged just 25. She has also completed a number of extraordinary challenges including the 360-mile Polar Challenge with an all-female team. Tori now works as a motivational speaker and consultant as well as supporting a number of charities and organisations.
